Move Domain to Godaddy From Google
I am not going to Squarespace for domain hosting
I have been using Google Domains since 2014. Google domain makes it easy for me to launch Shopify and Vercel and connect multiple domains to my Google Workspace. I am not a fan of Squarespace; therefore, I decided to move to Godaddy. I started moving domains away from the Google domains, and if you are going to move your domain to another domain provider, make sure you understand it will take 5-7 days to transfer the domain.
Step 1: Log in to your Google domain, find your part, and click on registration settings. Please refer to the screenshot below.
Step 2: Go to Godaddy and select domains. From Domain, there is going to be a new window that opens. Select transfer; see print screen below.
Step 3: You will be asked to enter your domain in the following screen and then prompted to pay for your first year.
Step 4: Return to the domain screen after completing payment and click "transfer" on the left. Enter the Auth code from your Google domain (Step 1).
Step 5: Google Domains will send confirmation emails to transfer the name. You will also receive an email from Godaddy to confirm the transfer. Read the email and follow the steps. You will get a confirmation that your domain has been transferred.
Step 6: You will need to update your DNS Recorders. In my case, I have two recorders to update.
Website: Create a DNS entry to point to your website's hosting provider. In my case, it's Vercel. If you have an e-commerce site on Shopify, update the DNS to point to Shopify.
For Email, Google Workspace updates the DNS to Google's MX recorders.
Important!
Add the authenticated email recorder to your GoDaddy DNS template to quickly update and avoid errors.
